Biography

Jonathan Schofield was born in Manchester, but moved to London where he has been based for over 25 years.

Jonathan received an MA in Fine Art (Painting) from the Royal College of Art.

Jonathan was taught at the Royal College by Peter Doig and was awarded a Distinction for his MA thesis.

Whilst at the RCA Jonathan was awarded a scholarship to spend 6 weeks in Morocco, and also travelled to both New York and Rome to spend time painting.

After the RCA Jonathan painted in a studio in Bethnal Green and exhibited work in group shows.

It was at this time Jonathan began a career as a creative director working in fashion advertising, working with photographers, stylists and designers to create acclaimed campaigns for several high profile clients.

Schofield returned to painting in 2014 - the need to paint and make paintings again an overwhelming desire.

Helped now by the growing popularity on social media, Jonathan quickly found an audience for his work, with major collectors in the UK, America and Copenhagen.

Jonathan works from a studio in Hackney.
